‘LIVELY UP’

Avenue Winebar will be hosting this week's session.

19 The Avenue
West Ealing

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We’ll be gathering at SKAAVILLE as usual for our LIVELY UP Sunday Ska, Blue Beat, Rock Steady, Reggae, Jazz & Calypso session at the PARADISE. We’ll be featuring the usual suspects, RAY CARLESS, CAMERON PIERRE & THE CLUB SKAAVILLE RUB-A-DUB RIDDIM SECTION, THE RED HOT VOICES, DELROY PINNOCK & THE STEEL PANNESSES OF THE ENGINE ROOM COLLECTIVE.

We will also be using this occasion to big up our guitarist TIM CANSFIELD who is one of our favourite musicians.

TIM will be performing material from his BUS-UP-SHUT bag that’s full of uniquely musical surprises.

This amazing & highly talented guitarist for hire & quiet genius, has always held high powered guitarist posts within the music biz. ( Bee Gees, Steve Winwood, Elton John, Heaven 17, Billy Preston, Chaka Khan, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, Seal and many more.)

It gives us great pleasure to catapult TIM and his ‘BUS-UP-SHUT’ centre stage once more. Bus-Up-Shut is Tim’s original musical concept named after a popular Trinidadian delicacy.

What’s Bus Up Shut?
“It’s roti skin, but kind of torn up and bunched together – and looks like a busted up shirt”
(quote courtesty of - aylwinlo’s photostream).

The pieces of music that’s presented under the Bus-Up-Shut platform is a reflection of that delightfully spicy dish that’s best appreciated after the fete when you’ve had too much to drink and you’re in Rowland Sutherlandneed of something to quickly soak up the alcohol. You will be treated to an exciting musical selection that’s spontaneous, random, humourous & entertaining - you could say that it’s ‘Big People Tings’ with a special guest flautist ROWLAND SUTHERLAND stepping into the mix.

This session will hopefully take you a small distance in the right direction, to a place deep deep inside Trinidadian calypso, folk lore & politics. You can look forwards to collecting a few rice grains worth of insight about Tim’s superb individuality, depth of thought, how he perceives this good life through the colourful humourour musical interactions live on stage.
Tim has consistently been inspirational during the time that I have known him. Don’t miss this because he’s a very busy man.
